Acid etching chemically burns the surface. It does not remove laitance evenly, it leaves salt residue behind, and it cannot touch a sealed or previously coated slab.
Diamond grinding removes material mechanically and produces a consistent, measurable profile across the whole floor. That consistency is what makes a coating bond the same in the middle of the bay as it does at the wall.

- How much dust does concrete grinding make?
- Very little when it is done right. Grinders run with HEPA vacuum extraction at the head, which captures dust at the source rather than letting it settle through the building.
- Can you remove old carpet glue or tile mastic?
- Yes. Adhesive removal is handled with PCD tooling or shot blasting depending on how the material behaves under the machine.
- How do you know the slab is prepped enough?
- The profile is checked against ICRI CSP reference coupons. The required profile depends on the coating system going down on top.
